Automobile [au] Where to get biodiesel in North Carolina

Please use this forum to list locations biodiesel can be bought. If you have other info, such as hours, price, address, web site, etc, please also list it. There are a pair of fairly comprehensive lists here: http://www.biodiesel.org/buyingbiodiesel/retailfuelingsites/default.shtm and http://afdcmap.nrel.gov/locator/LocatePane.asp

Re: Where to get biodiesel in North Carolina

We get our biodiesel for racing directly from our sponsor, Potter Oil of Aurora, NC -- www.potteroil.com -- who is working with the NC Grain Growers Cooperative to develop a market in anticipation of the soy biodiesel plant the coop plans to build. They expect to open a public pump in eastern NC in the very near future, will try to post when it happens, but feel free to contact them directly to find out where and when it will be.

Re: Where to get biodiesel in North Carolina

There are rumors going around of a site being set up in Garner, south of Raleigh. No details are available yet, but TriangleCleanCities is working with a local retailer on this one. More information will be posted as it is available. Anyone who is interested in this site, please drop me an email! I will forward information on to TCC about the interest level. Thanks! JBear [:p] (Its finals week!!!! [xx(])

Re: Where to get biodiesel in North Carolina

We had a great time and great weather on the river in little Washington, opening the state's first biodiesel pump (as far as we know, at least) Monday. Three TV stations from two markets (local Greenville/Washington as well as Raleigh/Durham) did nice packages, interviewed the Grain Growers Association, NC Ag Dept, and distributor reps as well as the first "civilian" customer. Here are a couple of links. http://www.wdnweb.com/articles/2003/06/02/news/news01.txt http://205.245.185.5/witn/news/newsframes.php3?Storynum=14572 Obviously, we'd prefer something more than B5, but it's a start -- now we just need to encourage people to email Brian Potter at Potter Oil, brian@potteroil.com and Sam Lee of the Grain Growers Cooperative at graingrowers@earthlink.net, and let them know they're clamoring for the B100 or B20, so they can let their retailers know the market is waiting. We'll have the biodiesel racecar on display at the Gold Cup vintage sportscar races at Virginia International Raceway this weekend, and plan to run in an autocross race at the old Rocky Mount airport next weekend.

Re: Where to get biodiesel in North Carolina

B5 pump opened this week in Jacksonville, I believe at the Pit&Pump but don't know for sure -- more coming soon although not in the Triangle that I've heard of yet. Email Brian Potter at Potter Oil, brian@potteroil.com and Sam Lee of the Grain Growers Cooperative at graingrowers@earthlink.net , to find out for sure where it is, thank them for getting the stuff out there, and/or let them know where you are and how badly you want it so they can share the info with retailers! BMW BDR 324 is running in the autocross at the old Rocky Mount airport this Sunday, the 15th. Come on out! Only race in this part of the world this year. Susan @ BioDieselRacing.com

Re: Where to get biodiesel in North Carolina

We did get to meet J. at the event -- there was a good deal of media coverage, including WRAL-TV, News14 Carolina (the Time-Warner cable news channel), the local Garner newspaper and the Independent Weekly. There were quite a few biodiesel enthusiasts -- any from this group besides J.? The really exciting part is that they have replaced their diesel pump and sell only B20, and people driving up off the street just filled up happily. The station has brochures for customers, several banners and other advertising on the site, and if there are any left, free mugs to anyone who buys the B20, so hopefully the random buyers are also being educated in the process. Big thanks are in order to Anne Tazewell and Clean Cities, as well as United Energy, the station owner, and Progress Energy (formerly Carolina Power and Light) which is using the B20 to run their trucks, and is a big reason the owner was willing to try it. Rep. Deborah Ross was also there and talked about a bill that is on the floor of the NC House next week which will give big incentives to users and producers of alternative fuels. She strongly suggested that everyone interested contact their representatives and urge them to support House Bill 806. You can read more about it on Triangle Clean Cities's site at http://www.trianglecleancities.org/fuelleg.htm Susan @ biodieselracing.com

Re: Where to get biodiesel in North Carolina

It should be noted that the owner of the station has said his Diesel sales have actually gone up since this was introduced.....immagine that! It was great to see the "Biodiesel No war required" sticker from my car emblazened across the nightly news! [8D] J.

Didn't know about it till now (got to pay more attention to the news, I reckon). I have paid close attention to the biodoesel talk on the TDR and DTR sites for some time. Looks like I will start fueling the CTD down in Garner from now on. Guess it wouldn't hurt to feed the tractor some of what it has been tilling all these years, either [:D]
