Biodiesel in West Chester, PA (Chester County)

I am looking for like-minded individuals in the West Chester, PA or Chester County, Pennsylvania area who are interested in partnering to make biodiesel. I have secured two WVO sources, and one has recently asked if I would be interested in accepting more oil from some other restaurants with whom he has connections. I currently collect between 20 and 40 gallons of WVO per week (one source is very variable), which more than meets my current needs. This new offer would require some else to help consume the fuel, as well as assist with pick-up and production.

My Appleseed is currently set-up in my unheated and uninsulated garage. With the recent drop in temps, my oil has completely frozen, making production all but impossible. As such, I am looking to find an alternative site for production. Any number of scenarios could work:

    • The most ideal would be to partner with someone with a detached heated garage or barn. The work and fuel could be split up appropriately.
    • A space-for-fuel arrangement. I'd be willing to pay someone in fuel for a small footprint of space in which to set-up my processor.
    • Rent space. If I could partner with one or more individuals I'd be willing to pay a reasonable fee to rent space somewhere.
    • Many other possibilities exist.
Perhaps with enough interest and commitment, we could start a biodiesel co-op. Thanks!

Although I don't currently have a heated space to accommodate your biodiesel production, I'm interested in joining a co-op in the area.

Hey everyone, I should be up and running by June with a 250 gallon processor.  If anyone is interested in getting fuel, I may be open minded to supply B100 in exchange for WVO and $ to cover chemicals and a small amount to help off set power/equipment/time investment.

PM me if you'd like to discuss.

I'm in DE county near Glen Mills too and am interested in getting more involved with Biodiesel efforts.  I'm an admitted noob as far as actually _doing_ anything but I've been reading and watching news about solar and biofuels for at least 10 years.  I use diesel for a farm tractor so even if someone is just willing to sell me some fuel, I'd rather give the $ to an effort like this than to the faceless oil producers.  Ultimately, I'd like learn how to produce and maybe even grow feedstock, I've got some acres and might even be able to provide some production space.  So, anyone that's looking for support, please contact me.  Thanks.

Guys, I've been so busy with work and getting everything together for this processor that I've been out of touch with this forum.  (I'm not getting notified for some reason when someone sends me a message or posts here...which doesn't help either!)  I apologize.

I'm a behind my original goal for being operational in June, but I'm darn close now.  I have all the major components except wash tanks...and that's because I'm doing a little research into some different dry wash options and may end up building my own dry wash tower.  I still could be ready in a matter of a couple of weeks.

I must admit that I'm getting a little frustrated getting some WVO sources.  I'm running into a lot of places that already have people collecting from them...which may be some of you for all I know! :)

I am very open minded to setting some things up with you guys, so let's get out heads together and get this going! I'd like to get in better contact with you guys...I think there's too much delay using a forum.  Let me know if you think catching up on the phone would be better!

To get some of your mouths watering...

Its not a real picture, but it'll give you and idea of what things will look like...

Main reactor tank on left, methanol tank on right.  Tote raised up is a settling tank, and is used to gravity feed the wash towers positioned next to it.  The washed fuel then flows into the steel tank underneath the platform where I will have my transfer pump.

System has the capacity to make 250 gallons of fuel at a time.

Oh, and there will be a pipe coming through the wall under the sub panel that will feed directly into my heating oil tank in the crawl space...so when I want to add to my heating supply, I just pop the cap and fill 'er up.  I'm planning on rigging up a remote level gauge for the heating oil tank so I can see my fuel level from right there in the garage.
