Isn't Safeway a grocery store chain? That would be amazingly cool to get some big companies with lots of locations behind retail biodiesel. In fact, that's exactly the sort of thing it'll take to bring bio mainstream.

Yes - Safeway is a grocery store chain.  Many of the grocery store chains on the west coast sell fuel.  Many have Diesel.  Safeway, Albertson's, Fred Meyer (owned by Kroegers) and Costco Wholsale have fuel stations at many store locations.  Some offer discounts if you buy groceries at the same time - like at Safeway, if you buy $50 woth of groceries, then you get a nickle off each gallon at the pumps.

In fact, at one time, one of the highest pump volume gas stations in the State of Washington was the fuel pumps at the Costco Wholesale Headquarters in Issaquah, WA.  They were like 20 cents a gallon cheaper than anywhere else and there was always a line for fule from 6 am to 9 pm every day.  Not sure, but I think they could pump to 12 or 16 cars at a time.  They got deliveries by the 10K gallon tractor trailer like 2-3 times a day, if I remember correctly - my numbers may be a bit off, but it was something insane like that.

Safeway is very happy with the biodiesel sales at West Seattle [I've been there a few times even though it's far out of my normal driving area.] so they are going to replace more of their petro diesel pumps with soy B20 pumps all around the Seattle and Eastside areas of WA including Kenmore. Way to go corporate america! Yes

We now have B20 in KENMORE WA at SAFEWAY's supermarket fuel station on Bothell Way! They just converted the petro diesel to a bio blend. Very cool and close to where I live. Geeked
