You should have gone all out for those photos Graydon and really dressed the part ... barefoot! Wink

Great photos BTW ... thanks for sharing them. It would be nice to be able to justify purchasing a rig like that. What's the pricing?

    Yeah....ya like them flip-flops?Big Smile

    MSRP on it runs $12,995.00

It's one big machine...it's funny, the guy I brew with has been whining about the BioPro 190 not being able to keep up.
3 batches in this bad boy & he's "outta oil!" for a while but now has plenty of fuel. (That's nearly 300 gallons in just 3 batches)
    I laughed!

The BioPro 380 would be great for a local co-op! I'm impressed with the space saving design and "from the looks of the specs" ... the quality of the materials and construction.

An aside ...  in the old days down at the beach we'd call them there flip-flops of yours = "thongs." I still purposely embarrass my kids using that term when they are will friends ... you know ... a statement like: "Hey guys were you wearing my thongs?" Their friends get a concerned look on their face followed by a smirk. Wink

Thong: A sandal held on the foot by a strip that fits between the first and second toes and is connected to a strap usually passing over the top or around the sides of the foot.

    Re: BioPro 380 pictures

    Hi,

I recently purchased the BioPro 380, and I'm currently running my first batch and my machine has been stuck on reaction 1 for 5 hours now..  is this typical, from reading the manual it states the reaction time for reaction 1 & reaction 2 should take ~ 8 hours..  Can you tell me how long reaction 1 should take, hopefully my machine is working correctly.

    Thanks!

The first reaction, acid-catalyzed esterification, takes 6 hours. The base-catalyzed second stage takes only two hours. The latter reaction proceeds more quickly, requiring less reaction time.

The reason that first reaction takes so long is because acid esterification is a much, much slower reaction.

Lots of people think that it works just like a base reaction (heat, hit it for 2 hours & let it settle). Its really quite a different reaction.

So, yep, it's processing fine. It just takes longer on that first one.

I'd love to hear what you think of it once that first batch goes through.

    We love ours.

Mine got stuck on reaction 1 for 24 hours. It may have been an issue with the reset button. It hasn't happened again. I also had a problem with methoxide filter getting clogged but narrowed that down to operator error(bad potassium hydroxide). Other than that the machine has been flawless. We've been running some pretty crappy oil through it with marginal success. The 80/20 process has been awesome. I think just about anything will pass a 27/3 with the 80/20. Shawn.

Graydon, Do you know why AGR moved the water out tube away from the sight glass? Mine is off to the side and makes it hard to see the separation at times. Shawn.
