BioDieselNow - Renewable biodiesel fuel

I just got my first diesel and I am very eager to start homebrewing biodiesel. My problem is that I dont know where to start getting the WVO to convert. So I am posting this to ask if anyone could fill me in or any good ideas. Also I am willing to work with other indiviuals in the collection of WVO. I live in the Kissimmee area and I am willing to travel to nearby cities. Please you have any info please help me help the world with their dependence on forigen oil!

So I will have a steady but limited supply of WVO in the kissimmee area. If anyone wants some let me know so I can take further actions to secure a supply for you. First come first serve! Bring your own tank and pump I dont have the supplies yet to help you out with that part yet, but I will in the future. I have filterd the oil to get all the large chunks and little animals out, but its not filtered as much as it should( again thats because thats all I have right now). I am a nice guy to deal with and I can promise that I will do what I can to make anything work.

  howdy, I don't live in the central florida area, but I will respond to your post. I live in the SW area of florida and I haven't had a lot of luck getting business owners to let me get their wvo, the renderers have everyone under contract....I suggest that you start knocking on doors at local resturants and cafes. Someone out there will let you get some of their wvo. My biggest problem is finding some reasonably priced methanol....see my post on anyone interested in methanol. I am all for the little guy trying to get ahead, that is what I am too.

I am looking for an old diesel car, 1990's preferred, and I live in South Daytona. If I ever find an affordable diesel car anywhere I would love to co-op with you on the WVO. Hopefully that made sense. I plan to homebrew as well. Have you heard of an oil converter that fits in the trunk of the car? Friends of mine in Portland have done that.

I have found two websites that I know would be able to sell you the systems that fit in your trunk. http://www.goldenfuelsystems.com/ and http://www.goldenfuelsystems.com/, and if you are not so mechcanicaly inclined they provide ways of someone in your area that can hook it up for you.

As far as the Co-Op goes just let me now when you have purchased the vehicle and I will try and help you by getting you some oil. Right now I am getting a very little amount, but in 4 months and will be signing a contract. Also I have another location that I am working on but its not working out the way I thought. Shoot me an email when everything lines up for you and we can figure something out like prices and what ever you want either WVO or Biodiesel. Looking forward to working with you.

How can I join the Central Florida CO-OP. I live in east Orlando and I do not mind traveling to pick up waste oil. I used to buy Biodiesel from Silver Bullet in Groveland, but they are soldout to the highest bidder and don't have time for the little guy anymore. How can I join and help the co-op?

I really hate to do this...but...

I've tried for years, with no luck, to get "free" Waste Veggie Oil... In Florida, every business is required to have a company on contract to dispose of the waste oil or they can not operate. They also happen to have a contract to buy the new oil from the same company, so another words, they cant just let you get it without being penalized on their discounted new oil. Griffin Industries pretty much controls the market in this area. The oil is sold for a premium to dog food companies to flavor the food so a dog will eat it. Some companies may give a few gallons here or there but not worth the effort or the hassle to make bio or much less just to strain it and burn it...

This is a myth or just unspoke truth that just breaks the spirit. i had everything ready, the appleseed (waterheater) processor ready to rock, lined up to get the methanol, everything was coming together. But then, no oil available...I know of a handful of people duped into this and eventually threw the junk away cause you just cant get enough oil to make it...i even tried to buy used oil but it would be cheaper to just go down to the station and buy regular old #2...

 

I wish all this was really possible but it's not...

This is in response to everyone who reads this thread or any of my others and freewvomyth. I have been pushing this off for a while so I guess its time.

 I am pleased to see that I am not the only one having problems here in CF. I know that sounds bad but in this case it is good I assure you. In the works is a localy owned and operated WVO collection with possible Bio Diesel processing company. I am working out a deal with other companies across the US in a joint venture. Now I can go any furtur in to detail but I will try to explain what our goal is.

Right now I have the financial backing from a local investor and a good business plan that we agreed on and got a 2nd opinion by other companies in the joint venture. All we are waiting on is the green flag and some signatures on paper. I know you are still saying what does this have to do with me.

 The future company will be as follows.

1 - Collection will be from LOCAL locations in large quanties.

2 - Anyone can purchase any quanity of oil! (so long as we have the supply)

3 - Oil will be in different stages. (straight from the tank, filtered...etc)

4 - Possible supplier of B-100 again to anyone for any quanity we have available.

5 - If and when we do process this oil to Bio Diesel will will offer a copy of our ASTM test that we will try to do monthly. (not needed every month, but will ensure our customers the highest quality)

6 - Local oil of course is cheaper then buy from over seas or buying from other states.

I cant really think of anything else but would like to leave you with one thing. We want to not only start a buisness to make some maoney, but we want to provide a needed service to the customers looking for WVO to the resturant we recieve the oil from. If we can get this idea up and running you all will be in mind first!

  i live near Tampa bay (new port richey to be exact) i am interested in joining the co-op and i do have a steady supply of WVO it is about 200gal a month and i have a few hundred gallons at home.  I am very very interested in the start up of this idea by ramrodmike.  I think it could work and work well.  I'm getting into making bio myself and I like what he is proposing.

 

Ramrodmike, count me in on wanting to be involved when you are up and running.  Please keep the forum posted on what is going on so we can be lining up to be your first customers!

If they are selling this stuff to dog food companies. I would think that a news story stating using WVO in our pets food is causing heart , and other health problems with our pet's  ( family members) I would imagine this may put a damper in their business and help us with ours. any thoughts?

I dont know. I think most people already know this is taking place. Plus you will only be effecting how the dog food company makes their product, not how Griffen disposed of their WVO. Good thought but I dont know if that would make the right ripple effect.

 

Add another perspective client for your WVO Mike.  I live in Orlando and would be willing to buy.  Do you have a projected price for the WVO yet???

Well I dont know at this time. I have only a few potential clients and half want money for the oil, the others dont. I will say that I offer for good oil $1/gal and $.50/gal for OK oil. So our price will be based on price of oil and our overhead. We will have many options that will give different prices. Hope this helps.

 

since all bio companies refuse to sell to individuals, i was dead set on starting a b100 station in CF, but since you have to take 7000 gallons minimum a week, at wholesale cost, (.10 cents cheaper than #2 retail) it's not worth it for $2800 a month if you sold it at #2 retail and still able move 7000 gal a week. it's simply not enough to keep the business going and it would fail. i dont think people would drive anywhere to pay the same as #2, it defeats the whole concept.... 4+ dollars a gallon for bio is a ripoff...I seen somewhere in another thread about bio-pimps... it a shame they have to exploit this too...

Now i like the WVO station idea but cost will be the major factor. your $1/gal sounds awesome. i couldnt get better than $3.00 cost per gallon for filtered WVO with a 6000 gallon minimum. id be very interested in this, but have some questions for you. let me know how i can contact you by phone...with the years of leg work ive put in this maybe i can help you get this thing off the ground...i have some other ideas maybe you could incorporate into your plans to insure success...i would like to see this come to life in this area. let me know
