JJ
Do you have current pricing?? I tried to order from them but do not have any business credentials. I would be interested in KOH and 1 barrel of methanol if the price is right.

Re: Ready for Methanol and KOH purchase, Anyone else ready
I had no people contact me for a group buy in jan. so I purchased enough supplies to get me thru till April.
In jan. prices for methanol was 4.20 per gallon and I think 50 of KOH was 72.00
Prices will drop around April. If there is interest then I will get the new prices.

Joe,
Count me in for your next group buy in April, I'll get some local for now in small quantities. 4.20 is cheap compared to some of the prices I've seen.

3Guy's,
If you e-mail me I can add you to the list to buy on my account with Ashland. We have guys buying all over the country now. You will call ashland direct and give the account number and pay for your order and they deliver to a business adress. Prices as of today 3-14-08 Methanol $3.21 per 55 gal delivered Koh 100 lb min order $1.24 delivered NaOH 100 lb min order $.88 per pound. The rep said Methanol should be dropping this month we were at $2.78 a gallon a month ago. From the time I add you, it takes about 24 to 48 hours to be acctive. We don not make anything or charge anything for it. It helps us all keep the price down by volume. And it is noce to get both methanol and lye from one source.

Re: Ready for Methanol and KOH purchase, Anyone else ready
EvolutionCam, I am in CT. Do you think Ashland will do a bulk purchase shipped to CT? Is there any additional discount for that. It seems that lots of people in CT are ready for a bulk purchase. Based on the last few posts on the CT biodiesel forum it looks like we can order 12 barrels and easily move it all. Plus I have a friend who works where there's a loading dock we can use.
Thanks EvolutionCam.

Re: Ready for Methanol and KOH purchase, Anyone else ready
etrusc0 --
I'm in central CT and just signed up with Jason (evolutioncam) last week. It was real easy to set up, spoke to his Ashland rep and things should be set up by April. Ashland will deliver anywhere, as long as it is a business. I'll be ordering 4 barrels at that time. As I understand it we all get the same price but pay for our own order on credit card and they deliver to our business. Price might be lower in April.
I'd give Jason a call at the number he has in a previous post - he's a great guy and the Ashland rep was real helpfulll also. It took all of 10 minutes to set up.
Good luck!
Scott

Re: Ready for Methanol and KOH purchase, Anyone else ready
CT Farmer - Thanks for the info. The reason I had asked about the potential of cheaper prices at 12 barrels because other companies I had called had thier second discount at 12 barrels. The first break was at 4 barrels.
Either way I'll give Jason a call and set something up, it's definitely been harder to get methanol at a reasonable price then I thought it would be though. Once I'm done with a few test batches I'll place a large order. Thanks for the info.

Re: Ready for Methanol and KOH purchase, Anyone else ready
I had Good Friday off so i decided to make AN ASTRO Chemical run.
To get the 4 barrel price break of $4.00 gallon I bought 4barrels I also had to pay the $25.00 per barrel deposit
I also bought100 pounds of KOH flake @ $1.00 lb
If anyone is interested in buying the extra 2 barrels of methanol and 50 lbs. of flake.
Call me at 413-204-2875
All I am asking is the cost of materials and deposit plus $25.00 for my time and mileage to pickup the materials.
Materials are located in Westfield,ma.01085
I can load into any pickup truck with my skidsteer.
Best Regards
Joe.D

Hello Jason
If it would be possable i,m interested in buying methanol and KOH from your source. I.m getting methanol from Windward Petroleum now, but you're price looks alot better. It would be delivered to 03281 in NH. Also getting the KOH from the same place would be great. Thanks for your help. Rick in NH

evolutioncam,
This sounds really great! We have been getting our methanol from a couple of places in MA (we are in CT), but I think they jack the price up when they figure out what we are doing with it. I sent you an email via my aol email account slapshotjh . It would be nice to get a better (more fair) price!

Re: Ready for Methanol and KOH purchase, Anyone else ready
Hello,
I am considering creating a setup here in Granby, MA and have been tinkering with Biodiesel with good success. Please let me know the new cost quotes for methanol. I would like to make a minimum of 275 gallons this year, and double that for next year to offset heating costs. It looks like your next buy was for April 08, so I may be ready for the purchase after that. Please keep me posted.
Thanks again for all of your help.
Eric

Re: Ready for Methanol and KOH purchase, Anyone else ready
Hi Joe,
Many thanks for the reply. Most likely I wil not be set up until mid summer to early fall, so if you could drop me a line at ejgagne@comcast.net when the next purchase is near, that would be great. It's nice to see someone in the area doing this.
Take care,
Eric
