Wintron XC30 has had excellent results in Europe and appears to have some data to back it up. The big problem for most people trying it is lack of availability. I just found a company in Canada that distributes if for North America: http://www.celticpower.ca/page18.html

Most additives I have used claim "biodiesel friendly" on the front label and then tell you it is only good for up to B20 on the back - and even then at 2-3X the normal concentration. I might give the Wintron a try. It does not normally get very cold in Western Washington so I would only need .1% concentration. I only had cold filter plugging once in the 4 years I have used straight B100 in my truck - which often sits for long periods of time - and that was last week: It was 16 degrees. My Jeep Liberty CRDs have never had any issues because I plug in their block heaters, drive them daily and mix in some kerosene when it gets really cold. The problem will be when traveling to the East side of the state where temperatures are 20 degrees colder in winter....that is when I need a really good additive. Since I bulk buy my B100 in 600 gallon qtys for my fuel depot shed I would like to mix everything properly to begin with so I don't forget to add it when it is really needed....which is what happened with the truck. (To fix it, I plugged in the block heater, purged the lines and changed the filter. No big deal, but should have been avoided)

 Anybody know where to buy XC30 in the USA? Maybe even in the Chicago area or just in the midwest? It would be nice to not have to pay for the shipping.

 I was watchig a news program the other day and they said there is no such thing as a cold weather additive that works. In cold weather they recomend a B10 blend with regular petrol diesel you get at the pump (10% bio - 90% petrol mix) and it would help with the price a bit but not to be fooled by gimmicks. They said to see study results from independent sources before purchasing such an additive.

What is Primrose? I went to a "Primrose" web site and it doesn't help with Bio-diesel information.

Greengolf, can you post us a site with more info on Primrose? What's the name of the company makes this stuff?

Hello, I am new to this I live In Heber City, Utah, it gets rather cold here, about -10 F I have been doing a lot of research on the wintron xc30 as well as the baynox stabilizer for long term storage.  I also went to the purlite dry wash filter system.  My contact in Norway has been using the two together down to -40 C which is pretty close to where I need to be to run b100 year round.  my tests in the freezer have proven quite promising, but compared to some of the biodiesel I have seen. I must say mine is very clean.  I run off a variety of vegetable oils, from various resaurants in the area.  Primrose boasts they can drop it 15 degrees, but I tested it in the freezer and it did not look hopefull, I would stay with the blend. However, I never thought about simply putting a block heater in.  Does anyone else use the purlite system, and have you had the same good results?

Magilla, did you build your processer and where did you get the purlite filter and does it eliminate washing? i'm new to this and have lots of questions thanx greg

Beachbionic.com.  and yes it eliminates the washing, and you get hardly no water in your biodiesel.  it does take a little longer to run throught, but you need to prefilter. Then it will run through faster.
