    Bio Negatives.

I'm getting sick of all the negative opinions so called progressive sites are posting about the use of biofuels. No one seems to know about any of the upcoming alternative feedstocks or the use of recycled grease.  Some of the loudest are environmental groups. Algae, jatropha and wood cHip are coming but these voices are now the biggest foe we have. Three years in, over one hundred thousand miles and I'm getting pissed off. ANY THOUGHTS?

As long as they're complaining, they're not competing for your feedstock. I wouldn't be too upset.

I'm with you but  we have a nice TDI that has gone over 85,000 miles on B99 issue free and I drive a Siverado 2500 burning the same and the "BIODIESEL NO WAR REQUIRED" bumperstickers make me feel good. She is now worried. I'm cool with this stuation. I really wanted to hear what others thought

To be fair. Virtually all biod is a product of industrial ag farming that uses 100% dino juice to keep costs down. If there was no dinod, biod and 'grease' and everyother feedstock would be worth vastly more/gal. I think its false to assume that your grease is 'blood for oil' free.

There is also the concept of un-sustainable farming for biofuels. This is not a trivial issue and needs to have a huge amount of thought put into how we treat the land. If we destroy everything to save ourselves, doesnt seem much worth it.

Biofuels get the false blame for increased food prices. As I have explained many times, its not biofuels but energy cost that is really contributing to the higher food prices. Biofuels is not the cause but a symptiom of rising energy prices. There is also a solution in this issue, waste/poop into energy. Ag waste, industrial and human biowaste has a huge amount of harvestable energy. IMO, its our duty to clean up the mess we have made and biofuels is one of the ways we will pay for the technology and political/commercial will.

Even tho in the short term, it makes economic sense, in the long term, growing biofuels is a dumb idea.

Those that live by the sword, die by the sword. Id rather die of cholesterol from all the butter Im making and selling... froggy in Wisconsin

That's cooland I agree. Does it apply to alternative sources of feed stock coming down the pike?
