Illinois to label all biodiesel pumps

Interesting that they hadn't before. Hopefully it'll be good for raising awareness. Link here.

Biodiesel pump labeling campaign ready in Illinois

    by Dave Russell

On July 1, a new state law in Illinois goes into effect that requires all biodiesel pumps selling B6 to B20 blends be labeled. Kayla Rassi, Communications Manager for the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) tells Brownfield they are working with the state to provide pump labels.

“We’re being proactive with that and trying to make biodiesel a brand that truckers and consumers are comfortable using,” said Rassi.

The label, she says will feature a star with an oil drop.

“Our theme is “American Grown Performance” and that’s what we’re pushing with biodiesel to make people feel proud that they are buying an American made product,” Rassi said.

Illinois is the largest consumer of biodiesel in the U.S.

It's about time. There's all sorts of conjecture going on about which diesel stations have what blends and what they are not telling us. But what's to ensure the label actually matches the product? In Illinois - I shudder to think of the unquality control!

I agree this is long overdue. There was a brief attempt to label highway exits with biodiesel signs two years ago. But, there seemed to be some bad vibes from some unknowlegeable users or funding disappeared or (....I'm not sure) 'cause the signs that were there disappeared too. We've all devoloped our "favorite spots" but it will be nice to find stations that were below the radar. And have some quality control involved too.

    Hey biogrove! How goes it?

Those signs I see everywhere by my moms house near Rock Island and coming back from Joliet I saw those signs to. Not just for biodiesel but also for E85. Don't loose hope yet!

I am glad they are going to mark these signs. The place in Elgin that you can fill up at is listed as having B11 on the internet. However, they do not have ANY stickers telling users that there is Biodiesel in this fuel. People could be voiding there 07+ diesel car/truck warrenties and not even knowing it! I say this since B5 is the limit set by most fuel system makers.
