    A few questions???

Ok Im from kansas and Im looking to start a small production facility. I would like to sell 1000 gallons/day. What are some ways that you guys would go about this? I also just read that you cant use waste veggie oil for biodiesel production? Is this true? If so, why? What are some sources to get fresh veggie or canola oil? Thanks, Alex

You can use WVO to make BD, and it turns out fine.  I think some people may be afraid of that, or just want to sell you new oil.

If you plan to set up a plant, there is a lot of red tape.  Plan on lots of forms etc.

I suggest you start on a smaller scale first, like a processor made from a steel drum, or a electric water heater.

Check out the colaborative BD tutorial here:

It has lots of good info to help you get started.

    Good luck with your project!

    Re: A few questions???

Can you tell me what can stop me from buying or leasing a gas station, using WVO, testing it, and selling it all at the location.  I can afford the kits and I live in a metro area where I can get plenty of WVO from restaurants.  Are there any laws againt it?  I don't mind red tape or forms but it just seems that more people should be doing it this way since I've been reading that soybean oil prices are through the roof.  Any info or links would be great.

    Thanks

    Gerardo

(I double post this as it asked the same question in another post)

You should do as much research as possible. You should also start small and work yourself up. Starting small will not leave you in a bad situation if you get in over your head. It also allows you to see what it actually takes to make biodiesel. Welcome to the Biodiesel forum!

    Re: A few questions???

We have a small biodiesel plant here on Aquidneck Island (Rhode Island), Newport Biodiesel.  I just went on a tour of their plant, 500,000 gallon/year.  They are small-scale, local producers, and have gone through what you probably will have to.  You can visit www.newportbiodiesel.com for more info.  High quality stuff; my Jetta loves it.

Good luck, and may the torque be with you.
