Is there such thing as a small shop selling BioDiesel legally? And around St Louis?

Like everyone else, I'm looking to pay less. I saw $4.19 at the pump this morning.  I've got a SWEET '97 Ram 2500 that burns nothing but BioDiesel just not the "home brewed" stuff. It sounds possible to me that some guys could be cooking their own and could sell it legally if they pay taxes. I might be WAY wrong on this but thats what I've understood from this forum so far. So I thought I'd ask:

    A) Is it legal yet to both make it and sell it?

    if so

    B) Is anybody doing it around the St Louis area ?

    vogues69,

As per your question on legality.  To my understanding it is only legal to sell fuel that meets ASTM D6751 standards for quality.  If this is feasible through a "home brew" operation is a question of how or what you use to produce the fuel.  Also, as the government likes to get there piece, your tax contribution from the fuel you do manufacure and sell would keep you out of trouble with the Feds.

     Cheers

join a brewing coop.  Check out the St. Louis biodiesel folks.  As you say, homebrew biodiesel is legal so long as you pay taxes.  As to selling it, no.  But if you are paying for the consumables that go into making it... Wink

You can make high quality fuel at home- it just takes some experimentation and help from the online community.  www.biodieselcommunity.com and www.girlmark.com
