    A crust on top!!

What have i done wrong? I heated 125Ltrs WVO Tritation was 4.5. mixed my NaOH with the methanol and then added to the WVO. Onced mixed about  1 hour switched the mixer off and within about 20 minutes a white stringy crust began to "grow" on the top of the oil. It is now about 2ins thick. This has not happend to me before, i have been making Bio diesel for six month or more without problem, can someone help?

Surely  I can not be the only one to experience this problem!! I would just like to know if A, is what I now recoverable, and B, what have I done wrong. I am about to drain my reactor if I can recover the oil I would prevent a problem with its disposal. Currently, I have drained off te usual glycol gunk but now left with a milky product with a 2ins  of whitish layer of what looks like fat, but I,m not sure what it is. I did think that I may have overheatd the oil in the reaction process but again can not be sure.

Dude, water + lye = soap.  You had some extra water in your oil and made a little soap. I bet you also got a partial reaction. So, you'll have to dry the oil, test it again, do another reaction.

Funny, I was just making some soap myself!
