BioDieselNow - Renewable biodiesel fuel

Looking to put a diesel engine in the old workhorse. Any suggestions for a good bio-diesel engine to fit? It has a 350ci in it now. Looking forward to being able to afford to go camping in it again.

 THATS A TUFF ONE, I HAD A 1969 FOR 25 YEARS.

YOU HAVE A 1/2 TON WITH NO FRAME, 

THE MOTOR MOUNTS CANT BE MOVED...BECAUSE IT USES A UNDER SLUNG CROSS MEMBER...

AND YOU HAVE ONLY ONE BOLT TO HOLD THE TRANS. 

 THE "DOG HOUSE " IS  TOO SMALL... ,

THE SPRNGS ARE NOT ALL THAT STRONG,2 LEAFS ARE NOT ENOUGH TO HOLD UP THE WEIGHT OF A DIESEL MOTOR & TRANS.

I THINK THE ONLY DIESEL MOTOR THAT YOU HAVE A CHANCE OF FITTING , WITH OUT A HECK OF A LOT OF FABING....,

WOULD BE A OLD "GM" V8 TYPE DIESEL .

YOU WOULD NEED TO USE YOUR TRANS, AND MOUNT.....BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF A FRAME....

THE ONLY THING YOU GOT ABOUT RIGHT IS A GEAR RATIO...OF 2.73...... AND REGULER SIZE TIRES...??

THE DRIVE TRAIN IS NOT ALL THAT STRONG...10 BOLT...gm...??

UNLESS YOU WONT TOO DO A LOT OF FABBING,...... LIKE A STEEL SUB FRAME , 12 BOLT AXEL AND MORE SPRINGS ...ECT..

THE OLD V8 GM DIESEL IS THE ONLY THING THAT WOULD COME CLOSE ,

Anything worth doing is going to be a chore. Its a 3/4 ton G-20. 6 lug. Land boat! The front springs are shot. I'm thinking about having a new set made $$$ or just using a add a leaf, or splicing on a Nissan front frame section. With the mod to the front end it should be able to handle any extra weight. I hope. The rear Dif is the same as the one used on dulleys. Plenty strong. Going to change the gears to 2:88 . If the dog house is to small Ill have to fab something up. Probably out of aluminum. The seats will most likely be in the way. It also already has a automatic trans in it. Don't know if the V-8 diesel will work with it or not. Once I figure what engine I'm going to use Ill give Advanced adapters a call & see what they have to say about that. Welding is as common as eating breakfast around here so fabbing new mounts or cross members would not be an issue.

Thanks for the tip! The guys over at the Vintage van site dont seem to know much about it.

There was an 80's Caddilac that had a converted 350 to diesel. I dont remeber the exact year but I owned one and know they exist. It might be worth checking into.

 since you have a good rearend the GM diesel could be the ticket...,the trans should bolt right up.

and the motor & trans. mounts should work..it could fit in the "doghouse"..!

which would save a ton of work, no mods,...or seat work..:) 

just add some leaf springsto the frount..

they also came in oldsmobiles...and trucks.. ,there not the best deisel motor on the block but i think it will fit..?

the exhaust could be a little tricky, your "ramhorns"...versus the diesel exhaust...manifolds..??
