    Over heating - a problem?

Is running a reaction too hot a problem?  What could be some of the issues if my 1L oil samples were allowed to exceed 130F?  I've been having issues with my BD product and washing - I've been washing, and the top layer just won't clear.  How long is a typical time to let the oil/water mix settle before the BD turns clear (amber)?  I'm just making SVO batches right now.

    thx

The hotter the better, but keep it below the point where your methanol will boil off, about 150F-160F.

When your wash water comes out clear, you have all the impurities out of the fuel.  A small sample may take a day or two to clear if left open to the air.  You can dry it immediately on a warm stove.
