    GREED

guys i'm very new so forgive me.  but i'm really angry.  these "bulk" buyers are creating a supply and demand issue here. i'm seeing people sell stuff they couldn't give away 2 years ago for 1.80 to 2.00 a gallon.  i would rather give big oil the money than some shlub being greedy and creating a market out of nothing.  guess what's going to happen in our greedy rush to supply a new market, some people are going to get rich and the rest of us will be paying $.10 less a gallon for biodiesel than what commerical diesel is.  then all these people who ran out here and created this huge market, surprise.  if you don't beleive me jump into congress' minutes, your days are numbered.  when you open up your little corner "french fry fuel market" big brother is already got PENDING, to be voted on, you are now "refining" for commerical use. and you'll be taxed at refinrey rates 102% currently.  so by all means continue to drive this market, but just remember you got into it because you were tired of big oils greed.  and you're just looking at your self as an honest guy seeing a need and going to make a dollar.  hey the american way; right mr. exxon.

think about it: you can sheer a sheep many times; but eat it only once.

    Re: GREED

Hi Slick. Welcome to the site. You're saying that pretty darned soon, the feds are going to start getting more heavily involved with small producers?

People are now getting greedy enough to start stealing grease. Story here.

Thieves eye grease profits from biodiesel boom

WICHITA, KANSAS:  Thieves are stealing leftover grease that is otherwise sold to a biodiesel producer in Sedgwick County, Kansas, according to local media reports.  Ben Healy, the president of Healy Biodiesel in Sedgwick, recently reported theft of thousands of gallons of grease at the restaurants in Wichita, which he usually frequented to buy grease for his biofuel plants.

Healy said biodiesel has caused the value of grease to triple in the past few years to US$0.32 per pound, and the chunks of lost grease would have fetched thousands of dollars in revenue.

The case is the first reported theft for lost grease, according to the Wichita Police Department.

This is simply an example of how the free market works. If I could get ecological on you...

Nature abhors a vacuum. One definition of vacuum means an over supply of a particular resource. Maybe a tree falls and sun is exposed to a seedling. Maybe its a seed in a cowpie, the cow pie smothers a particular area from light and with too much immediate salts, thereby killing the small area for the seed to take hold. Or a disturbance like fire. Or a recently dead animal, all this resource and no one to eat it, things will move in. And because humans are animals and thus "nature" and the free market works alot like ecology, I think the analogy is a good one. That resource has been id'ed and now the flies are swarming

Moral of the story? I think there is 2.

    1) Waste streams always provide a cheap source of raw materials that should be a first target.

    2) In a world starved for energy, what will be happening to the value of those sources of fixed energy, particularily biomass and fossil fuels?

Those that live by the sword, die by the sword. Id rather die of cholesterol from all the butter Im making and selling...
