Re: B100 NOT $1.95 at SOlar Market anymore

Solar Market Biodiesel Pricing: Our current Biodiesel pricing is as follows: Price before taxes: $3.70/gallon ($3.55/gallon for 50 gallon purchase) Federal Excise Tax: $0.244/gallon (must charge for fuel into your tank, otherwise Feds assume you will document on your own tax forms) Maine State Road Tax: $0.263/gallon (we must charge on all sales, if you are using off-road, they expect you to file for a refund. Gov. logic...) So assuming you're filling your tank, the net price is $4.207/gallon or $4.057/gallon for 50 Gallons or more. I apologize for the wild emotional ride. We had bad information on two fronts. First we were shocked by our supplier's increase in pricing by $0.80/gallon--found out about this yesterday. Second, we thought we could claim a $1/gallon tax credit. Upon further investigation we aren't in a financial position to take the credit. I personally spent many hours trying to work the tax credit issue out, only to be dissappointed. Like you, we were excited about the prospect of Biodiesel cheaper than reg. diesel...

Now we're worse off than before the tax credit. [V]

Yes, it is frustrating that the net effect of this tax incentive has been to force us to raise the price of biodiesel. I have heard from Mike Briggs that it might be possible for the end users to take the tax credit themselves. I haven't personally found any information about this, but perhaps Mike has?

Thanks for updating the prices here Charlie. I'll poke around some more and see what I can find about consumers filing for the tax credit - it will require the IRS releasing new forms next year for individuals to file for it, I think, but I'm under the impression that that's what's supposed to happen. I need to check with some of the other biodiesel retailers around the country - some mentioned that this is what they are doing (or planning on doing), so I just need to find out HOW to do it.

Those prices are the highest we've seen yet for BioDiesel. I suggest that Solar Market (and all of us on this forum) write letters to our two senators about the counterproductive effect of the tax credit. After all, the president has 'discovered' BioDiesel and is touting it as part of America's effort to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Stories like this can embarrass politicians into doing something about it. Sounds like you should lease a pump at a local filling station and offer a mix. On the other hand, Frontier in Saco couldn't make a go of it, but that might have been a location issue. This makes the $2.45/gallon 'Clean Diesel' at Irving a bargain (that is ULSD). We can't let BioDiesel die! Can we get the misleading $1.95 price out of the topic headline?

Pretty sure it is still the same price as last posted on page one of this thread by solarcharlie (please correct me if I'm wrong! And I'll apologize in advance, I've forgotten how to quote previous posts!?): "Solar Market Biodiesel Pricing: Our current Biodiesel pricing is as follows: Price before taxes: $3.70/gallon ($3.55/gallon for 50 gallon purchase) Federal Excise Tax: $0.244/gallon (must charge for fuel into your tank, otherwise Feds assume you will document on your own tax forms) Maine State Road Tax: $0.263/gallon (we must charge on all sales, if you are using off-road, they expect you to file for a refund. Hope this helps .......

B-100 was over $4/gal 2 weeks ago at Solar Market and today at Dennis Burke's Eastern Ave office in Chelsea a 5 gal bucket was $25 !!!! Why the increase in price ($2/gal inside a month)? Just because petro is going up???
