    Biodiesel in Tampa

Forgive me if I´m a newbie but i just contacted Ward Oil in Tampa and they say that they will no longer sell in the 55 gallon drums and that one needs to place an order of 500 gallons to even be able to pruchase with them. Lovely. Since I do not have space in my apartment closet for 450 gallons of fuel, does anyone know where I can get a regular drum of biodiesel? Or, would any ten of you in the tampa area be willing to discuss how to organize a group purchase from Ward? Clueless and sick of burning toxins, Jason Thanks for the help!

    Re: Biodiesel in Tampa

Maria Alovert is planning on giving a seminar on homebrew biodiesel in Ft. Lauderdale sometime in December. Here is a link: http://girlmark.com/tour/ I plan on attending. Anybody else in the Tampa area planning on going? I do not currently have a location that is suitable for making fuel but I hope to have one sometime in 2007. Perhaps then we won't need Ward. If any one has a suitable location now, let's make plans. I live in Lithia. Tommy

Hey Tommy, I would love to attend! If you'd like, a little further down the road, we can get together and possible car pool to this thing. I currently do not have a suitable location but we would have no problem finding something, that's for sure. I live on Davis Island. When you have a place and want someone to share the costs/time of building a processor and processing, make sure and look me up. 904-208-8171. I'm as serious as a sky full of mo2. Thanks, J Thanks for the help!

    Re: Biodiesel in Tampa

McMullen is full of it.  I have called them for months.. i think they just want some kind of tax break so they say they sell biodiesel.

I bought a tank of biodiesel from Aztech Energy today.  The plant is in a newer industrial park behind the Amscot at 1717 Busch Blvd.  You have to drive back there and look the big sign that says "Biodiesel".

They use 100% Virgin soybean oil and it's super clean looking stuff... my 2002 jetta TDI runs great on it.

The owner, Frazier, is really cool.  He showed me the plant and gives everyone a form to fill out for a $1 per gallon tax return.  If you fill up with biodiesel made from WVO then you get a 50 cent refund per gal but if you fill up with Biodiesel made from virgin, American vegetable oil, you get a $1 refund for each gallon.  He will give you a receipt to prove it too.

His plant is state of the art and can put out a ton of fuel.   I hope he does well and picks up some retailers in the area to distribute to.   Please give him some business... I highly recommend this place.

They are open from 9 until 6.  Here is the address and contact info.

    Re: Biodiesel in Tampa

I talked to Ward Oil a few days ago and while they were willing to sell me the stuff they quoted me nearly $250 for 55 gallons of B20.  It's apparent to me they don't want to deal with the little guy.   I've talked to Aztech a couple times but it seems they have a supply problem, and when they run out they all go home.  The one time I was actually there they were closed.  I'm not going to drive 60 miles just to find out they don't have any; so I'll keep calling until I get the go-ahead.  Will try McMullen, thanks for the tip.

Finally managed to connect with AzTech and picked up a drumful of B20.   They seem like good folks to work with.

I've heard theres a new plant somewhere in Tampa that's making the stuff out of chicken fat; anyone know anything about it?

When I purchased B20 from Aztech oil they added on a 9.9% sales tax.  Is that normal for this area?

Anybody heard of the importing company called EarthFirst ?  The company was importing bidiesel into the port of Tampa and looking for customers.  It's made from palm oil & arrives from South America.  Get in touch with Ken Brown at KennyBio@aol.com

What blend did you use and what is the price per gallon?  Also, what year and type of vehicle are you using the biodiesel to run?
