SUMMARYDetailed design HT/HP offshore pipelines/risers with three years of experience in route selection, wall thickness analysis, material selection, on-bottom stability analysis, cathodic protection design, free span analysis and non linear finite element analysis. Expertise in designing subsea equipment such as Manifold, Plet, Jumper and Plem. Recognized by management for exhibiting excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills demonstrated by on time and efficient engineering services.

More than three years working experience in pressure control and research and development divisions of National Oilwell Varco, a leading manufacturer and supplier of offshore and onshore Drilling equipment.

     AREAS OF EXPERTISE

    ▪ Offshore Pipeline Design and Analysis

    ▪ Offshore Pipe-in-Pipe (PIP) design and analysis

    ▪ Subsea equipment design and analysis such as Manifold, Jumper, Plem and Plet

    ▪ Subsea Umbilical Analysis

    ▪ Subsea Field layout and architecture

    ▪ Blowout Preventer Design

    ▪ Drilling Riser Design and analysis

    ▪ Finite Element Analysis (ABAQUS, ANSYS, PATRAN, CEASER II)

     EDUCATION

Ph. D.  : Materials Engineering, University of Houston, Houston, TX (completed 15 credit hours of course work)

    M. Sc.  : Mechanical Engineering, University of Houston, Houston, TX (awarded-2001)

    B. Sc.   : Mechanical Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh (awarded-1998)

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCETechnip Offshore, Inc., Houston, Texas, U.S.A., 12/05 to presentStaff Specialist BP Atlantis Deepwater Development (DC-3 & DC-1), Gulf of Mexico

    ▪ Involved in the Design, development and analysis of Manifolds, PLETS, and PLEMS.

    ▪ Designed and selected flowline and well jumpers. Optimized the jumper geometry and API valve location in order to mitigate the stress in the jumper and reaction loads at the connector.

    ▪ Performed Lateral buckling analysis of DC-3 (drill center 3) HT/HP flowlines in 7000 ft water depth. DC3 pipe line is laid over the Sigsbee escarpment (which has steep lateral slope) in the Gulf of Mexico. The steep slope of the escarpment can cause the pipeline to move laterally. To mitigate the movement of the pipeline, I have optimized the stabilization pile location in the escarpment. I have also designed slippers, which are to be installed near PLET end to reduce the risk of excessive thermal expansion at the pipeline end.

    ▪ Performed umbilical analysis over the Sigsbee escarpment in the Gulf of Mexico. Umbilical analysis was performed to determine the amount of movement due to lateral slope in the escarpment after installation.

    ▪ Performed 3D finite element analysis of the Hub, connector, and valve used in BP Atlantis Subsea Phase 1 Project. The 3D analysis was intended for verifying the integrity of the weld location. The analysis results was compared against ASME 16A (Boiler and pressure vessel code).

    ▪ Performed Manifold and Plem piping analyses using finite element method.

    ▪ Developed Parametric FEA (ANSYS and ABAQUS) models of M shaped Jumper for Atlantis DC-3 field. The parametric model is capable of accommodating the variability of jumper geometry. This parametric model was used to analyze all the jumpers of DC-3 field with enormous ease.

    ▪ Performed fatigue analysis of Manifold and piping components for Atlantis DC-1 field.

BP Trinidad & Tobago, LLC – NOEL Towed Installation Study

    ▪ Performed offshore pipeline installation engineering design of one 30-inch New Oil Export Line (NOEL) for the bottom tow installation method. Installation engineering design activities included design basis preparation, tow route determination, buoyancy/pontoon design, pipeline towing analysis, temporary offshore pipeline crossing design, and pipe onshore make-up site layout.

    ▪ Prepared work scope for onshore make-up site survey, tow route survey and diving inspection at temporary pipeline crossings

    ▪ Reviewed/prepared pipeline drawings for survey purposes.

New Zealand Overseas Petroleum, TUI Project

    ▪ Performed on-bottom stability analysis of a 13.5-inch flexible pipe using PRCI AGA software.

     EMDC Invar Cryogenic Pipeline Qualification

    ▪ Performed stress analysis of an Invar pipe-in-pipe line subjected to gravity loading during lifting. This was done using 3D continuum elements with ABAQUS.

National Oil Well Varco, Houston, TX, 08/02 to 12/05Engineering Analyst

Performed conceptual and detailed engineering design of Ram type blowout preventer (BOP) Riser Tensioner, and Continuous Circulation System.

    ▪ Performed stress analysis of Blowout Preventers (BOP), Drilling Risers, and Riser Tensioners.

    ▪ Conducted failure analysis (Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis) of pressure equipment and prepared technical reports.

    ▪ Simulate blow out preventer’s multi ram rubber seal mechanism using finite element to verify sealing capabilities and performance under high pressure/temperature.

    ▪ Develop testing procedures of BOP and Riser Tensioners for successful product development.

    ▪ Provide technical support to sales, marketing, and manufacturing.

    ▪ Perform Design check of new products against API 16A, 8C, 16R and ASME pressure Vessel Codes.

Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas,  8/1999 – 12/2001                                                                     Research Assistant

    ▪ Worked on a research project ‘Control of Process-Induced Shape Instability of Polymer Matrix Composite Laminates’ – benchmarking of commercially available FEA software COMPRO for predicting shape instability of polymer matrix composites (study funded by Aircraft Design & Manufacturing Research Center)..

    ▪ Developed manufacturing and lab testing procedures for polymer composites.

    ▪ Performed lab tests and verified COMPRO’s suitability in manufacturing through simulation.

    ▪ Performed material testing using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA)

Hello Emily Bockian, I am very interested in the Biofuels Business Manager position. I perviously relocated from Los Angeles and I was working for Greenpeace. I possess many qualities that would make me an excellent candidate the Business Manager position. I am very detailed and extremely organized in my work. I am hardworking, reliable and proactive. I have great both verbal and written communicate skills. However, the most important fact is that working to replace fossil fuels with renewable resources is my passion. This type of work is what drives me. I am also willing to relocate closer to the city for demographic reasons. I would like to meet with you in person to discuss my qualifications in further detail. I will also apply online from the link provided. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Bryna Makowka 310-424-8285
