I still am looking to get some WVO sources in the East TN area. I will supply barrels and all the equipment you need at your facility. I will pay for good used WVO. If you can help me or know someone who can help me out please contact me.
Very good folks, just got my 110 gals. for summer vacations.
Hi, newbie to these forums, but I thought I could help a little.
It seems everyone in the East TN, NC area is having a hard time competing with Valley Proteins, but if you do a little checking, most restaurants that are using them do so reluctantly because that is (in most cases) the only option. We found this through several conversations with other biodiesel producers and were easily able to secure WVO by just walking in to restaurants and asking. Typically, it's the small independant restaurants. We've found that mexican food places have the best oil. It's not as overused. Worst have been grocery store deli's. The biggest thing about VP that ticks me off is they treat their customers like crap (as voiced by the people we've spoken with) and the majority of their finished product is sent overseas, not reintroduced here in the US. With a little elbow rubbing, you'll find there are several small resturant owners who will willingly allow you to obtain their oil. We have one that just gives us a filled carboy each week. Perfect for the homebrewer.
A call by my husband to VP, and they offered to sell us their filtered WVO. I just cannot remember the price. So, that is also an option. If I recall correctly, they are located in/near Knoxville.
Oh so they they send the proteins to China, and people buy the infected meat at Wal Mart.Sounds like washing their hands in front of the people.
Well I'll tell you in Carter County you can't buy oil, because the Health Department must be getting a kickback from Valley Proteins. It has to be a Grease vendors dumpster.
I called Valley Protein's today and they are charging $3 per gallon for yellow grease. Filtered - yes but it is grease and oil mix.
Heck thats cheaper than diesel, for us who modify the engine.
Will pay for oil in the tennessee area. The more the better. 12000 to 15000 gallons a week can be handled. Any help out there will be greatly appreciated.
